The Madison Sports Car Club offers sports car racing under Midwestern Council's General Competition Rules for all current era vehicles. Of the 10-12 events run under Midwestern Council's rules, Madison Sports Car Club generally sponsors 2-3 of the events.
The wheel to wheel racing program emphasises competition in a fun and safe environment. Driver's compete for race trophies and season championship points.
Cars based on mass-produced street vehicles (everything from Hondas to Porsches) compete in four categories:
Showroom Stock cars are straight off the show room floor. Virtually all modifications allowed in this category are for safety purposes.
Improved Touring cars are a step up in preparation, allowing further performance modifications to the vehicle.
Futher more, Production and GT categories allow for even more vehicle development.
In addition to mass-produced vehicles, MSCC also has classes for Formula and Sports Racing cars and Vintage/Historic cars.
Each of these categories are further divided into classes based on a car's potential performance.
To participate, you must hold an MC Competition License or an SCCA, IMSA, BMWCCA, WHRRI, CASC competition license. If you need to obtain your license, you can do so by attending an MC Driver's School. See the Midwestern Council web site for more information.
The Madison Sports Car Club also offers you an opportunity to get involved in road racing without driving a car. You can work in one of the many specialties, such as: corner staff, timing & scoring, technical inspection, pit & grid, impound or you may wish to crew for someone or just spectate.
